M E E T T H E T E A M

Michael Maynez, Co Founder & President

From a young age, Michael enjoyed helping his father with the family construction business. Growing up, he recalls going to job sites with his father, learning hands on about the industry and the numerous trades that must work together, and watching residential and commercial projects being built from the ground up. His favorite memory is watching his father build a large commercial jobsite on PCH, west of Cypress Street in Lomita, which still stands today.

While attending Bishop Montgomery High School, he began taking formal architecture classes and after graduation, he attended ITT Tech, where he earned his Associate of Science Degree in Computer Aided Drafting. Soon after graduation, Michael co-founded MayCab Companies, Inc. where his passion exploded; he strived for perfection, maintained thorough and detailed execution of construction documents, and insisted on only the best quality materials and craftsmanship when building.

Michael currently serves as the President of MayCab Companies and attributes his strong work ethic and success to his Father’s teachings over the years. Described by his colleagues as a “work-a-holic”, Michael enjoys working with clients, helping design and build their dream home, and finding new and interesting ways to introduce little conveniences into every day living.

When Michael manages to take a little time off to relax, you can find him spending time with his parents, his wife, Monica, and their dog, Gela.

Jose Luis Cabrera, Co-Founder & Chief Project Manager

Jose’s interest in design and building was peaked at a young age. While his home was under construction, he recalls waking up early every day to watch his house being built. This interest turned into a passion and in 1998, after graduating from ITT Tech with an Associate of Science Degree in Computer Aided Drafting, he began his career in drafting and design with M.E. Engineers. He was involved with high profile projects including the Staples Center, LAC+USC Medical Center, and the Home Depot Center (now StubHub Center).

A true perfectionist, Jose’s passion for design and building paired with his attention to detail and creativity has allowed him the opportunity to design almost 200 homes throughout Torrance, the Beach Cities, and the PV Peninsula since 2005. Even after 20 years in the industry, Jose ensures his knowledge is in line with today’s standards and has a wealth of knowledge using Revit, which he uses to design homes and draft construction documents.

Jose enjoys woodworking while he is not designing homes. He recently finished building a pirate ship for his nephew, complete with Jacob’s ladder, cargo net, and swing set.
